Find answers to common questions about our products.

What does MPO-8 to 2×MPO-4 mean in actual cabling?

The MPO-8 end carries 8 fibers, which are split into two 4-fiber MPO branches. This allows one high-density parallel interface to be divided into two separate optical paths.

Is this cable the same as an OM4 multimode breakout cable?

No. This is an OS2 single-mode cable, identified by its yellow jacket, and it is intended for single-mode optics. It should not be mixed with OM3 or OM4 multimode modules.

What should I check during installation?

Verify the MPO-8 and MPO-4 port layout, keep the breakout legs protected from pulling, and clean all APC end faces before connection. For plenum areas, confirm that the OFNP jacket meets the project requirement.

Our environment is pretty sensitive to link stability, so we went with the APC to APC version. This AICPLIGHT cable has not triggered any odd retransmission alarms, and the link runs quietly.

Used it for a short 400G breakout connection to multiple ports, and the connector orientation and branch labels were easy to follow. The installers did not waste much time figuring out which end went where.

Our previous cable was too stiff, and I always worried about the bend point when closing the rack door. These jumpers are more flexible and sit naturally in the cable manager.
