How far can this OM3 cable support 40G or 10G links?
For typical 850nm multimode links, OM3 supports up to 100m for 40G SR4 and up to 300m for 10G SR. Actual reach also depends on the transceiver and link loss budget.
Can I use this cable for 100G QSFP28 SR4?
Yes, if the 100G SR4 transceiver uses an MPO/UPC multimode interface. For OM3, the supported reach is usually shorter than OM4, so check the module datasheet before deployment.
Why does this cable use UPC connectors instead of APC?
UPC is widely used for standard multimode SR links such as 40G SR4 and 100G SR4. APC is more often required when the transceiver interface specifically calls for angled-polish MPO connectors.
