Why is 25G a practical upgrade from 10G for servers and storage?

25G provides higher bandwidth over a single lane while keeping the familiar SFP form factor. It helps increase server access bandwidth without moving directly to more complex 40G or 100G links.

Can I plug this 25G SFP28 AOC into a 10G SFP+ port?

This cable is designed for 25G SFP28 ports. Although SFP28 and SFP+ look similar, a 10G SFP+ port should use a matching 10G SFP+ cable or optic unless the device vendor clearly supports the specific fallback mode.

Can this cable be used on the 25G side of a 100G to 4×25G breakout setup?

Yes, it can be used for 25G links on the server or NIC side when the connected port is a standard SFP28 port. The 100G breakout configuration still needs to be handled by the upstream QSFP28 port and matching breakout cable or optics.
