What should I check before choosing OSFP Flat Top instead of OSFP Finned Top?

Check the host port design and thermal structure. OSFP Flat Top is typically used when the device provides its own heat sink, while OSFP Finned Top is used when the cable end needs external fins for heat dissipation.

Why does the lane mode matter for this cable?

This cable is designed for 400G transmission based on 8×50G PAM4 electrical lanes. If the host port is configured for a different breakout or lane mode, the link may fail even if the connector physically fits.
