Find answers to common questions about our products.

Do I need to configure the 100G port as breakout before using this cable?

Yes. The QSFP28 port needs to be configured for 4x25G breakout so each SFP28 branch can operate as an independent 25G link.

Can I use this QSFP28 breakout DAC on a QSFP56 port?

In many cases, yes. QSFP56 ports are typically backward compatible with QSFP28, but the port must support 100G operation and 4x25G breakout.

Can I use only one or two SFP28 branches first and leave the others unused?

Usually yes, if the host device allows partial breakout operation. Unused SFP28 branches should simply remain disconnected and properly managed in the device configuration.

Can the QSFP28 end and SFP28 ends be coded for different brands?

Yes. AICPLIGHT can provide different compatibility coding for the QSFP28 side and the SFP28 branch ends based on your switch, server, or NIC models.

Overall performance is good and installation was straightforward. The packaging could be simpler, but the cable itself works well.

Fair price and a solid connection. We used it for short rack links and had everything up in a few minutes.

Nice feel when plugging and unplugging, and the pull tab is easy to handle. Tested on a few ports and the links came up quickly.
