No. A 100G QSFP28 DAC uses 4 × 25G electrical lanes, while a 40G QSFP+ port uses 4 × 10G lanes. For a 40G connection, we recommend using a matching 40G QSFP+ DAC cable.
For very short in-rack links, passive DAC is usually the most cost-effective and lowest-power option. ACC can support slightly better signal performance over copper, while AOC is more suitable when longer reach or lighter cabling is required.
For 100G passive DAC cables, shorter lengths usually use thinner cable such as 30AWG, while longer lengths around 3 m to 5 m often use thicker 26AWG cable. The exact AWG may vary by length and cable design.
The link came up quickly after plugging it in, and the switch recognized it without any issue. The length was right for our rack, and cable routing was pretty easy.
Build quality is better than I expected, and the connectors fit tight. This AICPLIGHT DAC is a good value for short-reach connections.
Used it between two 100G switches, basically plug and play. We ran traffic tests for a few days, and it stayed solid.
