Find answers to common questions about our products.

Do I need to update the switch firmware before using this AICPLIGHT 100G EDR AOC?

In most cases, the cable itself does not require a separate firmware update. Please make sure the switch port supports 100G EDR QSFP28 AOC and that the switch software is configured correctly for the required link mode.

Are all InfiniBand cables AOC cables?

No. InfiniBand cable solutions can include passive DAC copper cables, active optical cables, and optical transceiver-based links. This product is an active optical cable, which is lighter and better suited for longer in-rack or inter-rack connections than passive copper DAC.

Is this AOC suitable for both in-rack and between-rack connections?

Yes, AOC is commonly used for short-to-medium 100G links such as server-to-switch, switch-to-switch, and rack-to-rack connections. For very short links, DAC may be more cost-effective; for longer structured cabling, transceivers with fiber patch cords may be preferred.
