Is this AICPLIGHT 100G EDR DAC a copper cable or a fiber cable?

It is a passive Twinax copper DAC cable, not a fiber cable. Both ends are factory-terminated with QSFP28 connectors for 100G InfiniBand EDR links.

Can the QSFP28 ends be removed or replaced like optical transceivers?

No. DAC cables are fixed cable assemblies, so the QSFP28 ends are integrated with the cable and cannot be removed separately.

When should I choose this passive DAC instead of an active DAC or AOC?

This passive DAC is a good choice for short 100G EDR connections where low latency, low power consumption, and cost efficiency are important. For longer runs or more flexible routing, an active DAC or AOC may be more suitable.

Does the cable thickness change with different lengths?

Yes. Shorter lengths are usually made with thinner wire for easier routing, while longer passive copper cables may use thicker wire to maintain signal integrity. Please check the selected length and wire gauge when planning dense rack cabling.
