It is used to split one 200G QSFP56 HDR port into two 100G QSFP56 HDR100 links. This is useful when a 200G HDR switch needs to connect to two 100G HDR100 QSFP56 ports.
Not directly. A 100G EDR adapter uses a different lane structure, so the HDR switch port must support and be configured for 100G EDR mode, and the cable or module should also be EDR-compatible.
It is designed for InfiniBand HDR/HDR100 applications. Ethernet use depends on host port support and cable EEPROM coding, so please confirm the required Ethernet compatibility before ordering.
I was a little worried about compatibility at first, but it connected instantly when plugged into our Mellanox switches. For me, it was true plug and play.
