DAC is passive and best for the shortest links. ACC adds equalization, while AEC uses retimers to recover and regenerate the signal for stronger signal integrity.
At 800G to 2×400G speeds, a short cable can still face signal loss and jitter. AEC provides stronger signal recovery than passive copper, without moving to an optical module solution.
In many high-density racks, QSFP112 branch ends are more compact than OSFP ends. This can make the 2×400G breakout side easier to manage when port spacing is tight.
We ordered a few pieces for PoC testing first, and the result was good. The AICPLIGHT cable gave us more confidence for a larger follow-up order.
The available lengths fit our rack layout well, so we didn’t have to loop cables around. After installation, the rear of the rack looked much cleaner.
For spare parts management, this type of cable is easier than matching separate optics and patch cords. The jacket is a bit stiff, but the overall quality is solid.
