Find answers to common questions about our products.

Can this QSFP-DD 400G SR4 module connect to QSFP112 or OSFP SR4 modules?

Yes. AICPLIGHT 400G QSFP-DD SR4 can interconnect with compatible QSFP112 SR4 or OSFP SR4 modules when both ends use 4x100G PAM4 optical lanes and MTP/MPO-12 APC multimode fiber.

Can I plug this QSFP-DD SR4 module into an OSFP port?

No. QSFP-DD and OSFP are different physical form factors, so a QSFP-DD module cannot be inserted into an OSFP port.

What is the key difference between 400G SR4 and 400G SR8?

400G SR4 uses 4x100G optical lanes and MTP/MPO-12 fiber, while 400G SR8 uses 8x50G optical lanes and MTP/MPO-16 fiber. Because the lane structure and connector type are different, SR4 and SR8 cannot be directly interconnected.

Can I use different brands of switches or NICs at both ends?

Yes, if both devices support compatible 400G SR4 optics and the correct port form factor. AICPLIGHT can provide coding options based on the target device brand and model.

Why can QSFP-DD SR4 connect to OSFP or QSFP112 SR4 even though the packages are different?

The package only defines the host-side form factor. As long as the optical side uses the same 400G SR4 standard with 4x100G PAM4 lanes, the modules can communicate over the fiber link.

Using these on a QDD port switch to connect to an OSFP NIC is a perfect fit. SR4 transceivers run flawlessly with no compatibility issues.
