Find answers to common questions about our products.

Is this a good choice for a 30m link inside a data center?

Yes. A 30m multimode link is well within the reach of 40G SR4. Use a suitable OM3 or OM4 MPO-12/UPC multimode cable and make sure both ends are configured for 40G operation.

What cable should I use between two 40G SR4 modules?

Use an MPO-12/UPC multimode fiber cable, typically OM3 or OM4. Because 40G SR4 uses parallel optical lanes, the MPO polarity and lane mapping must be correct.

Is 40G SR4 the same as QSFP-4×10G-SR?

No. A standard 40G SR4 module is mainly designed for native 40G QSFP+ links, while QSFP-4×10G-SR is specifically designed for 4×10G breakout applications. They may look similar, but the intended use and optical power behavior can be different.

Can this 40G SR4 module be used for 4×10G breakout?

Only use it for breakout if the host device and module specification explicitly support that mode. For stable 4×10G connections to SFP+ SR ports, a dedicated QSFP-4×10G-SR breakout module is usually the safer choice.

These AICPLIGHT modules worked well, and the price was fair. We installed them in a few switches, and all are running fine so far.

Shipping was pretty fast, and the packaging was better than expected. The module works fine with no compatibility issues.

It has been stable on our existing 40G link. DOM readings look normal, and the temperature stays within a good range.
