Can this AICPLIGHT module replace an NVIDIA/Mellanox MFM1T02A-SR transceiver?

Yes. The NVIDIA/Mellanox-compatible version is designed for 10GBASE-SR SFP+ 850nm multimode links and can be used as a replacement option for MFM1T02A-SR in supported Mellanox/NVIDIA devices.

If the two devices are very close, should I use this SR module or a DAC cable?

For very short links, a 10G SFP+ DAC cable is often more cost-effective and lower power. Use 10G SR modules when you need fiber cabling, electrical isolation, or a longer multimode fiber run.

What cable should I use for this 10G SR module?

Use a duplex LC/UPC multimode fiber patch cable, typically OM3 or OM4. Do not use single-mode fiber or copper Ethernet cable with this optical transceiver.

Can this 10G SR module be used in a 40G breakout connection?

Yes, it can be used as the 10G SFP+ side of a 40G QSFP+ SR4 to 4×10G breakout link, if the switch supports breakout mode. You will need a compatible QSFP+ SR4 module on the 40G side and an MPO/MTP to 4×LC multimode breakout cable.
