Find answers to common questions about our products.

Can I plug this module into a 1G SFP port?

No. This is a 10G SFP+ copper module and should be installed in a compatible 10G SFP+ port. A 1G SFP port may accept the form factor physically, but it normally cannot establish a proper 10GBASE-T link.

Is a 10GBASE-T SFP+ module more power-hungry than optical modules or DAC cables?

Usually yes. 10G-T RJ-45 SFP+ modules generate more heat than many short-reach optical modules or DAC cables, so airflow and port power budget should be checked, especially in dense switches.

What Ethernet cable should I use for a 30m 10G link?

Use high-quality Cat6a or Cat7 copper cable for best 10GBASE-T performance up to 30m. Poor-quality or lower-category cabling may cause link instability, speed negotiation issues, or packet errors.

When is this RJ-45 SFP+ module a better choice than DAC or fiber?

It is useful when a 10G SFP+ switch port needs to connect to an RJ-45 copper Ethernet device, such as a server, NAS, firewall, or copper switch port. For very short switch-to-switch links, DAC is often lower power; for longer or electrically noisy environments, fiber is usually better.

I was not sure about compatibility at first, but support confirmed it quickly. This AICPLIGHT module tested fine after arrival, and the whole experience was good.

Shipping was faster than expected, and the packaging was neat. The module came online right after we installed it in the switch, and speed looks normal.

The product itself is good and runs stable. I just wish the label had a bit more detail for easier field installation.
