What are the typical applications of this 1.6T 2xFR4/FR8 OSFP224 transceiver?

This transceiver is mainly used for switch-to-switch interconnects in InfiniBand XDR AI clusters. It is suitable for NVIDIA Quantum-X800 series switches, large GPU clusters, AI training networks, and high-performance computing environments.

Can this module be used with NVIDIA QM9700 or QM9790 switches?

No. QM9700/QM9790 switches belong to the NDR platform and typically use 8×100G SerDes, while this 1.6T XDR OSFP224 module uses 8×200G-class SerDes. The rate architecture is different, so they are not compatible.

Is it possible to use only one 800G channel and disable the other?

Yes, but it requires host-side CMIS, driver, or firmware support for independent channel control. Before deployment, confirm whether the switch system supports single-channel activation or shutdown.

Why does this module use Dual LC Duplex connectors?

Dual LC Duplex connectors support two separate 800G optical links through two LC duplex interfaces. Compared with MTP/MPO-based parallel optics, this design uses fewer fibers and provides simpler cabling for point-to-point links up to 2km.
