Can this 200G QSFP56 SR4 module be used with Mellanox/NVIDIA QM8700 and QM8790 switches?

Yes. This module is designed for InfiniBand HDR 200G environments and can be used with HDR switch ports such as QM8700 and QM8790 for short-reach 200G IB links.

Is there any difference between QM8700 and QM8790 when selecting optical modules?

Usually no. QM8700 is a managed switch and QM8790 is an unmanaged switch, but both belong to the HDR 200G platform and can use the same type of 200G QSFP56 SR4 module.

Can this module interconnect with ConnectX-6 HDR adapters?

Yes. It can be used with ConnectX-6 HDR adapters equipped with QSFP56 ports, enabling 200G InfiniBand links with HDR switches. Confirm the adapter P/N and firmware before deployment.

Can a 200G QSFP56 SR4 module be plugged into a 100G QSFP28 port?

No. QSFP56 ports may support selected QSFP28 modules, but QSFP56 modules cannot be used in QSFP28 ports.
