Quantum-2 QM97XX Switches includes four 1U NVIDIA Quantum-2 NDR InfiniBand switch systems. Each system provides 64 NDR ports at up to 400Gb/s through 32 OSFP cages and delivers 25.6Tb/s of switching capacity. The category covers managed QM9700 models with onboard management and unmanaged QM9790 models for externally managed fabrics. Both model families are available with forward P2C or reverse C2P airflow. These switches support dense NDR InfiniBand networks for AI and HPC infrastructure, including H100 and H200 cluster environments.
MQM9700-NS2F is a managed 1U Quantum-2 switch providing 64 NDR 400Gb/s InfiniBand ports through 32 OSFP cages. It delivers 25.6Tb/s of switching capacity and incorporates an Intel Core i3 Coffee Lake management CPU. MLNX-OS provides integrated switch and InfiniBand fabric management through interfaces including CLI, WebUI, and SNMP. This model uses power-to-connector airflow, directing air forward from the power-supply side toward the port side.
MQM9700-NS2R provides the same managed 1U architecture, with 64 NDR 400Gb/s InfiniBand ports presented through 32 OSFP cages and 25.6Tb/s of switching capacity. Its Intel Core i3 Coffee Lake management CPU and MLNX-OS support onboard system and fabric administration. Unlike the NS2F configuration, this model uses connector-to-power airflow, drawing air from the port side and exhausting it through the power-supply side.
MQM9790-NS2F is an unmanaged 1U Quantum-2 NDR InfiniBand switch with 64 ports operating at up to 400Gb/s through 32 OSFP cages. It provides 25.6Tb/s of switching capacity and is intended for fabrics using external management rather than the onboard management configuration of the QM9700. The NS2F hardware uses power-to-connector airflow, moving air forward from the power-supply side toward the network interfaces.
MQM9790-NS2R combines the unmanaged QM9790 configuration with reverse airflow. QM9700 is internally managed, with an embedded management CPU, MLNX-OS, and an onboard subnet manager. QM9790 is externally managed and has no embedded management CPU. - Why are there 64 NDR ports but only 32 OSFP connectors?

- How do the NS2F and NS2R versions differ?
NS2F models use forward P2C airflow, from the power-supply side toward the connector side. NS2R models use reverse C2P airflow, from the connector side toward the power-supply side. This suffix has the same meaning on QM9700 and QM9790.
- Does QM9790 need an external subnet manager?
Yes. Every InfiniBand subnet needs a subnet manager. Because QM9790 is externally managed, that function must run on a connected host or an external fabric-management platform rather than inside the switch.
- How much rack space do these switches require?
All four SKUs use a 1U, 19-inch rack-mount form factor. The management model and airflow direction do not change the rack height. Verify chassis depth and rack clearance against the deployment specifications before installation.
