Is this card a 100G card or a 200G card?
MCX653105A-ECAT should be treated as a 100Gb/s-class adapter. NVIDIA’s specifications for this OPN list InfiniBand SDR/DDR/QDR/FDR/EDR/HDR100 and Ethernet 1/10/25/40/50/100Gb/s, not 200G HDR or 200GbE.
Does it support RDMA when running in Ethernet mode?
Yes. In Ethernet mode, ConnectX-6 supports RoCE, while InfiniBand mode uses IBTA RDMA. For production RoCE deployments, customers should validate DCB, congestion control, switch configuration, and firmware together.
Can QSFP28 100G modules be used in the QSFP56 port?
The card uses a single QSFP56 InfiniBand/Ethernet connector and supports 100G Ethernet protocols such as 100GBASE-CR4, 100GBASE-CR2, 100GBASE-KR4, and 100GBASE-SR4.
How is ConnectX-6 VPI different from ConnectX-6 Dx?
ConnectX-6 VPI is designed for environments that need selectable InfiniBand and Ethernet connectivity. ConnectX-6 Dx is an Ethernet-focused SmartNIC family with a different feature positioning, so it should not be selected when future InfiniBand use is required.
What should be checked if the link LED is off or the port stays down?
NVIDIA recommends checking that the cable is securely attached, trying another switch port, verifying cable length and compatibility, and confirming that the switch and adapter port are compatible. If the server cannot find the adapter, reseat the card, try another PCIe slot, update drivers, check BIOS, and reboot the server.
