Is the NVIDIA/Mellanox C8180 a standard network adapter or a SuperNIC?

The C8180 is a ConnectX-8 SuperNIC designed for high-bandwidth AI, HPC, and next-generation data center networks. It supports both InfiniBand and Ethernet, making it different from conventional single-purpose Ethernet NICs.

What does the ST0 model mean, and is it the same as the DT0 version?

No. The 900-9X81E-00EX-ST0 is the Socket-Direct / PCIe extension version, while DT0 is intended for downstream port extension. They are used in different server architectures and should not be treated as interchangeable.

Can this C8180 card run as 800G InfiniBand and 2×400G Ethernet?

Yes. With its single OSFP cage, the card can support one 800Gb/s XDR InfiniBand port or operate as two 400GbE ports, depending on the configured network mode and platform support.
