This model uses two QSFP112 cages, with each port supporting up to 400Gb/s depending on the selected network mode. This makes it suitable for dual-link bandwidth, redundancy, or separated fabric connections.
Yes. The C8240 supports 400Gb/s NDR InfiniBand and 400GbE Ethernet, with the actual mode determined by firmware, driver, switch port configuration, and the module or cable used.
The C8240 is commonly configured with Ethernet as the default mode, with two 400GbE-capable ports. If the card is used in an InfiniBand fabric, the port mode should be verified and configured during deployment.
Socket-Direct helps extend host-side PCIe connectivity, which is useful in multi-socket servers and bandwidth-intensive AI platforms. It helps balance traffic across the server architecture instead of forcing all NIC traffic through a single PCIe path.
Use QSFP112 optical modules or DAC/AOC cables that match the target mode, such as NDR 400G InfiniBand or 400GbE Ethernet. Before deployment, confirm switch compatibility, port mode, cable breakout, firmware version, and airflow requirements.
